Awards/Ratings
Decanter 97 pts (Georgina Hindle, Feb 2023). Extremely widely lauded by critics for perfumed complexity and aging potential
Tasting Note
Perfumed Nebbiolo: dried rose and potpourri, red cherries, cranberries, baking spice, coffee and dark chocolate. Creamy, chalky texture with lively acidity, refined tannins and a long, aniseed-tinged finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roasted game, braised beef, osso buco, porcini risotto, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano. Asian: Peking duck, char siu, Korean BBQ (bulgogi), beef rendang, rich soy/hoisin-glazed dishes.
Production Method
100% Nebbiolo; fermented in stainless steel with long maceration, aged in large oak vessels/tonneaux, then matured in magnum for ~10 years before release.
Vineyard Info
Ceretto family estate (founded 1937). Cannubi San Lorenzo is a tiny 0.25 ha summit parcel on the Cannubi hill, planted with old vines and farmed traditionally; produced in very limited magnum quantities.
