Awards/Ratings
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Neal Martin) review: 93-95 (often cited as WA 95) with tasting note referencing medium body and very fine tannins; market/release listings also show WA95
Tasting Note
Dense, layered Pinot Noir: black cherry, wild strawberry, forest floor, truffle, subtle spice and cedar; velvety texture, very fine tannins and a long, minerally, savory finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roast duck, game birds, ribeye or venison, mushroom risotto. Asian: Peking duck, soy-braised short ribs, miso-glazed black cod, shiitake/wood-ear mushroom stir-fries.
Production Method
Biodynamic viticulture, hand-harvested; whole-cluster and spontaneous fermentations; aged in French oak (notable new oak), minimal intervention and little/no filtration.
Vineyard Info
Domaine Leroy (Lalou Bize-Leroy) founded c.1988; a biodynamic pioneer owning tiny Grand Cru parcels including Chambertin; extremely low yields and very limited production, highly collectible.
