Awards/Ratings
Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 95–97 (Jan 2020); Vinous 93–96; Burghound ~92–95. Extremely high market scores and collector demand
Tasting Note
Perfumed red and dark cherry, raspberry and orange rind with gamey smoked-duck and spice notes. Medium–full-bodied, concentrated, powdery tannins, succulent acidity and a long, penetrating, mineral finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roast duck, lamb, beef bourguignon, mushroom risotto. Asian: Peking duck, char siu, soy‑glazed lamb, miso eggplant or miso-marinated fish.
Production Method
Traditional Burgundian vinification of Pinot Noir; hand-harvested, fermented in small vats, aged in French oak (often high new‑oak percentage for this cuvée) for c.12–18 months before bottling.
Vineyard Info
Produced by Emmanuel Rouget (nephew of Henri Jayer). Rouget farms the tiny 1er Cru Cros‑Parantoux parcel in Vosne-Romanée (c.0.72 ha for Rouget), yielding roughly 3,000–3,500 bottles annually.
