Awards/Ratings
Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 93-95; Jasper Morris 95-98; Burghound praised as Outstanding (95-98 in notes). Reviews note 100% new oak and powerful, long character for the 2019 vintage
Tasting Note
Concentrated, full-bodied Pinot Noir with cherries, dark/red berries, rose petal, violet and warm spices framed by toasty new oak; velvety texture, chalky tannins and a long, mineral, gently savory finish.
Food Pairing
Roast duck, roasted lamb, beef carpaccio, mushroom risotto, aged Comté or Époisses; Asian: Peking duck, char siu pork, mushroom or soy-miso glazed dishes, grilled wagyu or rich umami stir-fries.
Production Method
Hand-harvested Pinot Noir from low-yield vines; traditional Burgundian vinification with fermentation in small tanks, extended élevage in 100% new French oak for c.18 months; minimal intervention in cellar.
Vineyard Info
Domaine Emmanuel Rouget cares for historic Cros-Parantoux holdings originally made famous by Henri Jayer; Emmanuel (and since 2011 his sons) vinify tiny-production premier cru parcels (.7 ha) with meticulous vineyard work.
