Tasting Note

Dark garnet with aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, tar, soy and leather; concentrated, sweet mature red fruits, tobacco and earthy/meaty notes. High acidity with dusty, resolved tannins and a long, powerful finish.


Food Pairing

Western: roast beef, braised short ribs, game, lamb, hard cheeses. Asian: Peking duck, char siu (Cantonese roast pork), Korean BBQ, rich dim sum and Cantonese roast meats.


Production Method

Traditional left-bank Bordeaux vinification by parcel, extended maceration and élevage in oak barrels (typically 16–18 months) with subsequent blending into a Cabernet-led claret.


Vineyard Info

Château Gruaud-Larose, a Deuxième Cru Classé in Saint-Julien, dates to 1725; reunited under Cordier and today owned by the Merlaut/Taillan group. Estate vineyard ~82 ha on Garonne gravel soils.
