Concentrated black cherry and blackberry with violets, pencil-lead minerality, truffle and dark chocolate. Silky, filigree tannins, bright acidity and exceptional purity, finishing very long and precise.
Food Pairing
Western: roast lamb, braised short rib, beef Wellington, truffle risotto; Asian: Peking duck, char siu, miso-glazed beef, Korean BBQ, mushroom hot pot.
Production Method
Hand-harvested with rigorous sorting; fermentations and tailored maceration; élevage in a high proportion of new oak (c.50%+) for ~18 months.
Vineyard Info
Tiny, historic Pomerol estate (est. 1872) near Pétrus and Le Gay, family-run by the Guinaudeau family; very low yields and c.1,000 cases annually. Estate plantings dominated by Merlot with substantial Cabernet Franc.
