Tasting Note

Clear garnet with an amber edge; aromas of tobacco, cedar, blackcurrant, leather and dried fruit. Palate velvety, lush and full-bodied with sweet spice and a long, refined finish.

Roast lamb, beef Wellington, braised short ribs, aged hard cheeses; Asian pairings: Peking duck, char siu, Korean bulgogi, soy-braised beef.

Production Method

Traditional Bordeaux vinification with fermentation and extended maceration; matured in oak casks. Modern estate practice: ~18–22 months in barrel with a high proportion of new oak (estimate for historic practice).

Historic Cru Classé of Graves on the gravelly Haut-Brion terrace. Woltner family ran the estate 1919–1983; owned by Domaine Clarence Dillon since 1983. Renowned for concentration and ageability.
