Tasting Note
Bright citrus, lime marmalade and lemongrass with floral muscat notes, subtle honeyed and stone-fruit richness, fine chalky texture and firm acidity finishing long and savory with gentle oak influence.
Food Pairing
Western: oysters, citrus-marinated seafood, roast chicken, creamy pasta, goat cheese. Asian: sashimi/sushi, steamed fish with ginger & scallion, Cantonese roast pork, green curry or lemongrass chicken.
Production Method
Each variety fermented separately in (mostly older) oak barrels, whole-bunch/harder press for texture; lees stirring and 11 months barrel maturation before blending and bottling.
Vineyard Info
Mount Mary is a single-vineyard, family-owned estate founded by Dr John Middleton (purchased 1971). Small-production, Yarra Valley specialist; Sam Middleton is the current head winemaker, continuing a long tradition of Bordeaux-style blends.
