Tasting Note
Lemon curd, white peach and almond-biscotti aromas with subtle flint/mineral character. Creamy lees texture, gentle toasty oak and bright, mouthwatering acidity leading to a long, refined finish.
Food Pairing
Western: grilled lobster with beurre blanc, creamy scallop pasta, roast chicken, mushroom risotto. Asian: miso-glazed black cod, seared scallop sashimi, tempura, mild Thai coconut fish curry.
Production Method
Barrel-fermented in French oak (≈45% new), aged on lees ~9 months, underwent full malolactic fermentation and was bottled unfiltered.
Vineyard Info
Penfolds' flagship premium Chardonnay (the 'white Grange'), produced from cool-climate, multi-region parcels by Penfolds (est. 1844), overseen in this era by chief winemaker Peter Gago.
