Tasting Note

Blackcurrant and blackberry fruit with graphite, pencil shavings, sweet tobacco and cedar; medium-full body, ripe grainy tannins and a long, perfumed finish.


Food Pairing

Grilled steak, roast lamb, beef bourguignon, aged hard cheeses; Asian: Peking duck, char siu (Cantonese BBQ pork), Korean BBQ (bulgogi), soy-marinated beef or lamb skewers.


Production Method

Hand-harvested; fermented in estate oak vats; matured ~18 months in ~50% new French oak before blending and bottling at the château.

Le Petit Mouton is the second wine of Château Mouton Rothschild (Pauillac). Launched in the mid-1990s, sourced from younger vines on the estate; owned and operated by the Rothschild family.
