Concentrated cassis/blackberry and plum with cedar, tobacco, licorice and mineral notes. Silky texture, fine-grained but firm tannins and a long, tobacco-tinged finish.

Food Pairing

Western: grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short rib, aged cheddar, mushroom risotto. Asian: Peking duck, char siu, Korean BBQ (galbi), soy-braised beef, miso-glazed dishes.

Production Method

Small-lot open-top fermentations with punchdowns; long élevage (≈18–20 months) in a high proportion of new French oak; typically bottled unfined/unfiltered after severe selection.

Vineyard Info

Founded by Jean Phillips; tiny Oakville estate producing cult, mailing-list wines since 1992. Extremely limited production and high secondary-market demand; ownership later transferred to Stan Kroenke.
