Tasting Note
Opaque purple; aromas of tar, smoke, lavender, black pepper, blueberry and black raspberry. Dense, opulent palate with velvety tannins, dark chocolate and roasted-meat notes, finishing long and concentrated.
Food Pairing
Western: roast lamb, braised short ribs, venison, aged cheddar. Asian: Korean BBQ (bulgogi), Sichuan pepper beef, char siu, beef rendang — rich, grilled or spice-forward dishes.
Production Method
Fruit from 120–160‑year‑old vines; small-batch fermentation with ~3% Viognier added; matured ~30 months in ~60% new French oak before bottling.
Vineyard Info
Torbreck, founded by David Powell in 1994 at Marananga (Barossa), produces Rhône-style wines from old-vine Barossa fruit; RunRig is the estate flagship made from very old Shiraz vines.
