Awards/Ratings
Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) ~96, Wine Spectator ~96, Jeb Dunnuck ~97, Vinous ~94; widely praised vintage with numerous high scores and strong critic acclaim
Tasting Note
Concentrated black/red fruits (blackberry, kirsch), garrigue, leather, spice and truffle notes. Silky yet powerful with firm Mourvèdre backbone, ripe tannins and a long, savory mineral finish.
Food Pairing
Western: roast lamb, braised beef, venison, cassoulet, aged hard cheeses. Asian: hoisin or Peking duck, char siu, Korean BBQ, rich Szechuan braised pork, coconut-based Thai curries.
Production Method
Organically farmed; varieties harvested and vinified separately (some in oak, some in cement), blended after malolactic fermentation and aged in large foudres for about a year.
Vineyard Info
Château de Beaucastel (Perrin family) estate; ~110–130 ha with organic farming since 1950 and biodynamic practices introduced in the 1970s; famed Châteauneuf producer.
