Awards/Ratings
Selected notes: Burghound (Allen Meadows) — positive review noting ripe/spicy nose, density and long finish (review via K&L Wines, Mar 2019). William Kelley / Wine Advocate cited (WK94) on retailer notes for 2014; Wine Advocate reviews exist for adjacent vintages (e. g. , 2015 WA 92). (Information compiled from Domaine d'Auvenay listings and professional reviews. )
Tasting Note
Vivid citrus, green apple and white/stone fruit with floral spice, intense mineral/stone tension and an unusually dense, sappy texture for Aligoté; bone‑dry with a very long, saline finish.
Food Pairing
Western: oysters, lobster, grilled sea bass, asparagus risotto, soft goat cheese, roasted chicken. Asian: sushi/sashimi, miso‑glazed black cod, Cantonese steamed crab, Vietnamese fresh spring rolls, mildly spiced Thai fish curry.
Production Method
Biodynamic viticulture; hand-harvest, meticulous baie‑par‑baie sorting; whole‑cluster/very gentle pressing, fermentation and élevage in François Frères oak barrels with lees ageing and minimal intervention.
Vineyard Info
Produced by Domaine d'Auvenay (Lalou Bize‑Leroy). Made from a tiny Sous Chatelet parcel (~0.33 ha) in Auxey‑Duresses; very low yields and tiny annual production.
