Tasting Note
Powerful, full-bodied Grenache core with ripe black and red fruits, garrigue, leather, smoked meat and spice; velvety texture, firm ripe tannins and a long, mineral-tinged finish.
Food Pairing
Roast lamb, beef short ribs, coq au vin, duck confit, charred vegetables; Asian: char siu (barbecue pork), beef bulgogi or galbi, Sichuan-style beef, spiced lamb kebabs.
Production Method
Late harvesting, whole-cluster (whole-berry) fermentation in concrete vats; press wine blended back; long ageing in old foudres, demi-muids and used French oak (3–5+ years); minimal intervention.
Vineyard Info
Family estate since 1667; tiny holdings (~6–6.5 ha) around La Crau. Henri (12th generation) made this last top cuvée; Marcel now runs the domaine. Extremely low yields; limited production.
