Awards/Ratings
Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) 96; Vinous (Neal Martin) 98; Wine Spectator 98 (select tastings/merchants); highly praised in auction notes and vertical tastings
Tasting Note
Powerful and concentrated: cassis, black cherry, cedar, tobacco, graphite, leather and truffle with coffee and mineral undertones; firm, ripe tannins and a very long, saline finish.
Food Pairing
Roast beef, lamb, venison, aged hard cheeses; Asian pairings: Peking duck, Korean BBQ (bulgogi/galbi), beef rendang, char siu.
Production Method
Traditional Bordeaux methods: fermented on skins with extended maceration, then long élevage in French oak (significant new oak historically) to build structure and tannin.
Vineyard Info
Château Latour is a First Growth in Pauillac, estate-owned (Enclos plots) with predominantly gravel soils; historically Cabernet-dominant and one of Bordeaux’s longest-lived wines.
