Tasting Note
Concentrated dark plum and blackberry with espresso, cedar, vanilla and tar; floral lift (iris). Juicy, full-bodied, layered tannins and a long, mineral finish.

Production Method
Hand-harvested Merlot from a 2.5 ha plot; long maceration and fermentation in concrete and stainless steel; aged ~18 months in new French (barrique) oak.

Le Macchiole founded 1983 by Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli. Family-run estate in Bolgheri, organically farmed since the early 2000s; flagship single-varietal releases include Messorio (Merlot).
