Tasting Note
Profuse blackberry, cassis and black cherry aromas with violets, white pepper and rose petals. Flavors of juicy black fruit, orange zest, licorice and dark chocolate; smooth, polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, persistent, creamy finish.

Food Pairing
Western: grilled Wagyu or ribeye, roast lamb, beef Wellington, truffle tagliatelle, aged hard cheeses (Parmigiano, aged cheddar). Asian: Korean BBQ (galbi), char siu or Cantonese roast pork, Peking duck, mushroom or truffle fried rice, soy-braised short ribs.

Production Method
Traditional red winemaking with 18 days skin contact; aged 17 months in new French oak; selection of estate fruit and careful élevage to balance fruit, tannin and oak.

Vineyard Info
Founded in 1978 as a Mondavi–de Rothschild joint venture in Oakville. Produces a single Bordeaux-style grand vin (Opus One) from estate blocks; annual production ~25,000 cases; second wine is Overture.
