Tasting Note

Concentrated blackcurrant and black cherry with rose/lavender florals, tobacco, cedar, graphite and saline mineral on a medium–full, silky palate with fine powdery tannins and a long finish.

Food Pairing

Roast lamb, ribeye, beef stews, duck confit (Western); Peking duck, char siu, Korean BBQ (bulgogi), braised short ribs (Asian).

Production Method

Hand-harvested, fermented in temperature-controlled vats, aged ~18 months in French oak (majority new barrels). Traditional Bordeaux vinification.

Château Branaire-Ducru, a 4th Growth (1855) in Saint-Julien, family-owned (Maroteaux) with ~50 ha of gravel vineyards focused on Cabernet. Recent investments modernized cellars.
